Jordan (Arabic: الأردن‎ Al-‘Urdunn ), officially The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Arabic: المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية‎ ,Al-Mamlakah Al-Urdunnīyah Al-Hāshimīyah), is an independent Arab state in in the Middle East. Jordan has a reputation for its safety and known as one of the most stable and peaceful countries in the region. It is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south, Iraq to the north-east, Syria to the north, Israel and Palestine to the west.  Jordan’s infamous Dead Sea is situated across the country’s western borders and has a small coastline on the Red Sea at its south-west. Jordan is advantageously positioned at the intersections of Asia, Africa and Europe.

The capital of Jordan is Amman, which is the most populated city, as well as the country's, political economic and cultural hub.
